* Interesting facts from Boards.ie: 50% in the Dublin Half Marathon finished in under 1 hr 55 ins. Only 25% in the Great North Run came home in under this time; the 50% mark was reached around 2 hrs 7 mins. Of the estimated 50,000 accepted for the GNR, 39,000 finished; of the 8,000 or so registered for Dublin, 6,385 finished. So a 20-22% drop out in both.
* Commiserations to Gary O’Hanlon of Clonliffe, who was first home at the Dublin Half Marathon only to discover he had been disqualified for not crossing the timing mat at the start line. He was racing back to the start after warming up when the gun went; he then got swallowed up by the mob and turned around to join the race.
* We hear that 2,890 completed the Great Pink Run 5km and 10km – and that’s all we know folks! Queries to info@chipit.ie.
