The chair is my late father’s brought from St Luc in Switzerland to La Pelisserie in the Aveyron, home of Meabh, Ian and Max. Pictured are Max (who turns eight on Sunday) and Ian having a snooze in front of the fire – though the sun is starting to appear in France, as it is here. This day last year, headed off to Qatar. Am SOOOO glad I am not missing another year in my garden (must be getting old!).

Sunny today in the Aveyron. Pray that it doesn’t rain tomorrow. 10 kids playing outdoors are infinitely preferable to 10 kids playing indoors!
