Fitzgibbon Opens Season (and other results)

Irish women’s javelin champion Anita Fitzgibbon of DSD opened her season with a seventh place in the B group at the winter Throws Meet in Bar,  Montenegro today (Sat).
Fitzgibbon threw 46.45 in the final round. Her sequence was: x, 44.06, 44.17, 41.99, x, 46.45. Winner of the group was Marharyta Dorozhan of he Ukraine with a best of 58.54; five of the 10 competitors threw over 50 metres.
Fitzgibbon threw a personal best 47.09 to win the national title at Santry last August. Also at Bar, Clare Fitzgerald threw 47.71 in the U23 women’s discus
Road results – Darragh Rennicks and Emilia Dan win at Fr Murphy’s 5-mile in Co Meath. Darragh’s father Colm won the same race 40 years ago. Biggest race of the race was the Portlaoise 5km, where the chip timing failed (yes, it can happen!).
