No big surprise in today’s announcement of the marathon panel for London 2012. Mark Kenneally (Clonliffe) is the only man selected, while national champion Linda Byrne (DSD); fastest qualifier Ava Hutchinson (DSD) and Caitriona Jennings are chosen for the women’s race. Maria McCambridge (Letterkenny), who also ran an A qualifying mark, loses out as the slowest of the four qualifiers.
Last Wednesday, McCambridge ran a European Championships qualifying mark for 10,000m at Irishtown.
In the 50km walk, Rob Heffernan, Brendan Boyce and Colin Griffin get the nod.
