The street where I live (for only another 15 days)
What will I miss when I leave?
That’s a tough one. At the moment, don’t think I’ll be looking back much. It will be interesting to see what kind of flashbacks – if any – I get. In Australia, the beauty of SydneyHarbour only gradually crept up on me. The city is a glassy, modernist jumble, but I could travel those ferries and gaze on those bays forever. Truly one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Others up there on my list (and in no particular order): Lake Geneva and its surrounding Alps. The Scottish Highlands. Edinburgh. Provence. The backstreets of Paris. The Kathmandu valley. The Australian desert. London. The Lake District. Snowdonia. The fjords of Norway. Barcelona. The Pyrenees.
At home: KillineyBay. Lough Dan. Glendalough on a still day. The KillarneyLakes. Errigal. The Mournes. Connemara. The Antrim coast. Water and mountains together clearly have the edge!
Here, the blue of the water in the bay is something of a miracle. But is it better than what you’d see in Provence? Or Greece? Or Spain? I
Anything else? H’mm.
