THIS TREE IS CONDEMNED

All of us who love the Dublin hills are horrified at what Coillte has been doing over the past few years. The woods they planted about 25 years ago, giving Dubliners precious outdoor spaces to enjoy virtually on their doorstep, are now mature. That means they can be felled. Ticknock has been devastated as has Djouce Woods. This picture was taken on the path from Kilmashogue during the Leinster Schools Hill Running Championships last Wednesday. Note the “X” on the tree trunk.
