Close to 2,000 competitors are taking part in this weekend’s JK International Festival of Orienteering in Belfast and Mournes – the first time this prestigious event has come to the island of Ireland. Leading the Irish entry in the men’s elite class are Andrew Quin (3ROC), Darren Burke (Cork), Colm Hill and Seamus O’Boyle (both CNOC). Irish champion Niamh O’Boyle (CNOC) leads the Irish women’s entry in a strong field dominated by Scandinavia-based British orienteers.
