Race Results Jan 7-8 (ongoing)

Mick Traynor

Mick Traynor of Raheny Shamrock and Donna Mahon of Rathfarnham WSAF won the overall Dublin Masters’ Cross-Country titles on a perfect day for running at St Anne’s Park Raheny. Both led almost from the start and build up good leads.

Donna Mahon

Perhaps the most remarkable achievement of the day was the run by Raheny Shamrock president Nick Corish, aged 88. Age groups started at over 40 , with a record 87 running  the men’s race. It means that next year there may well be two races – one for the over 35-45 age group and another for the over 50 ages.
A massive 98 finished the women’s Meet and Train Winter League race in Griffeen Park, Dublin. In a race dominated by Sportsworld, Natalia Sokolowska  was the winner – two years after her racing debut in this very race when she finished 45th.
* Pics from both races at www.lindie.zenfolio.com.
* At the Munster Indoors in Nenagh, Kelly Proper won the senior women’s long jump and Kourosh Foroughi the men’s high jump.
* A day earlier, Niamh Devlin and Tomas Fitzpatrick were the winners at the SDCC  BHAA Cross-Country in Tymon Park, with a very healthy turnout of over 300 runners testing the BHAA’s new chip timing system.
