Fionnuala Britton of Kilcoole ran a personal best time of 15 mins 28.22 secs for 5000m at tneStandford Invitaitonla in Californa – inside the London 2012 B standard of 15:30 but A seconds off the A standard. Britton finished fifth in the race only losing touch with the leaders in the closing stages of the race. American athlete Jackie Areson won the race in 15:18.31.
In the men’s 1500m, Alistair Cragg finished sixth in 3:42.00, with Tallaght’s Anthony Leighio juts two places behind in 3:49. 07. In the 5000m, Cragg clocked 13:32.76 for fourth place.

* On the roads, Sean Connolly from Tallaght warmed up for next week’s Rotterdam Marathon by running an impressive winning time of 24. 41 at the Good Friday 5-Mile Run in Killarney.
With Linda Byrne of DSD finishing fourth overall in 27.05, this has proved to be the quality race of the weekend – so far!
