Aleady well underway is the Endurancelife Real Relay – an arduous attempt to follow the entire route of the official Olympic Torch around Great Britain and Ireland in one continuous non-stop journey, running every step of the way.
Starting from Land’s End at midnight on Monday 28 May, ten days behind the official Olympic Torch, the Real Relay has already involved hundreds, running day and night on an 8,000 mile mission to reach London in time for the Olympic Games opening ceremony.
At the moment, the relay is in Northern Ireland, with Ivan Park setting off from Derry and 14 stages taking the relay to Newry.
Tommorow (Tue), Thomas O’Hagan will run the 14 miles from Newry to Dundalk, followed by AN Other to Ardee and then Caroline Reid from Ardee to Slane (12.5 miles). Three more stages need runners before the relay reaches Dublin. It then turns back to Newry and again, more stages need volunteers. After another spin around the North on Wednesday, the relay leaves from Larne to Carnryan in Scotland.
