Sweeney, Treacy win Dunboyne 4-Mile (plus results r-up)

Joe Sweeney of Dundrum South Dublin led home a record entry of over 1,100 at today’s (Sun)  EirGrid Dunboyne 4-Mile road race, where the unseasonably  warm conditions took their toll.  Sarah Treacy, winner of the St Patrick’s Festival 5km road event in Dublin a week earlier, was a comfortable winner of the women’s race.  Both winners are now heading off for altitude training, Sweeney in Albuquerque and Treacy in the Pyrennees.
In Chicago, Thomas Frazer warmed up for the Rotterdam Marathon with a 23.30 for fourth place in the Shamrock Shuffle 8km, where he almost beat Abdi Abdirahman. Could he become the second Irish male athlete to make the London 2012 marathon A standard?
