Yesterday, the water was cut off from my “scullery”‘ – the room that will become the new kitchen. So no clothes washing for a month or so. Today they were laying the floor to the new part; the ceiling of the scullery will be next to go.

Builders’ hols begin today, so I get a two-week break after four week (20 days) of work on the house. A few mysteries to solve like where the first and then the second dust pan and bush went. Plus there’s the missing tea-spoons, including one of my favourites.

I run out of office to invetigate and see a rueful face smiling at me through a new-born hole.It’s now patched up (see above).
Poured rain all Friday and Saturday and inevitably, I have had leaks from the exposed roof on to the landing below.Builder’s holidays next week so will get a two-week break – but with the scaffolding all around my house making it very vulnerable, won’t be straying far…
